SUMMER DAY CAMP
MORE FUN THAN A CHILD SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO HAVE!

WELCOME!  Camp is a place where children experience amazing programs and build strong connections with other campers and caring counselors.  When a child comes to camp they will grow in spirit, courage and respect. They will have the opportunity to discovers hidden talents of all the great things they can do.  All of this and much more comes wrapped in a package of adventure, challenge and fun!

CAMP is a special place where campers and staff feel like part of the same big family.  Each day begins with an opening meeting, a time for campers to come together, learn about special events and get psyched for their day.  While there is no typical day, campers will swim, play sports, try new games, learn tennis, create a craft and have fun!

WE are not your usual camp.  Campers are placed in family groups called units, where they are with other campers the same age, gender and who are in the same program, group #1 is the only exception.  Staff members and campers work together to plan the details of the program.  We believe that sharing leadership with children helps create a memorable camp experience.  There will be FUN FRIDAY events, and lots of fun as we build the summer of 2011 together.

CAMP begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 4:00 p.m..  We offer nine one week units starting June 20th and ending the week of August 19th. Through out the weekly sessions campers experience a variety of activities based on a weekly theme, gain skills in decision making, and build strong connections with campers and counselors. We have four unit ttpes called Adventurers, Jr. Travelers and Travelin' Teens and Counselor in Training. The adventurers follow a "traditional" camp schedule.  During the day, campers will have scheduled activity periods followed by an hour of their own time to schedule the groups ideas  of activities for the day. Scheduled activities include: swimming, tennis lessons, games, outdoor education, crafts, and team building activities. The Travelin' Teens and Jr. Travelers programs follows the traditional camp style on Monday and part of Friday.  The rest of the time the teens will be on their way bound for adventure on our additional field trips. On Friday the Travelers will help out with the camp wide Friday BBQ.  The Counselor in Training program is for campers who want to learn what it takes to become a camp counselor. All units will take a weekly field trips to places like the beach, state parks, water and amusement parks.

FUN FRIDAYS & BBQ: Fun Fridays is new this year where campers will participate in a variety of activities through out the day and have a show to end the week with ~ Magicians, Clowns, Muscians and more! We will also have our famous Friday BBQ.  This is a great way to end the week!

CAMP is different from our after-school program because at camp children come everyday.  Camp is based outside. At camp children learn to work and play successfully in a group.  Skills are taught progressively and each day builds on the day before.

BEFORE & AFTER CARE:  Before and after-care is provided from 7:30 a.m.-9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m-6:00 p.m.

SWIMMING & SWIMMING LESSONS:  In order to ensure safety at the pool, every child will be tested before he or she may enter the pool to see if a floatation device is needed.  The waterfront staff is under the direction of a Water Safety Instructor and waterfront staff members are Red Cross lifeguards.  Swimming lessons are offered to our campers at an additional charge.  Campers will have 4 swimming lesson per week in the afternoon and lessons are taught by an American Red Cross Swim Instructor.

THE FACILITIES:  There are sports fields, tennis and basketball courts, wooded areas, and an outdoor swimming pool.  Programs also take place in the Racquet Club where we use the indoor pool, racquet ball and tennis courts, gym, youth center space, and kitchen.  A snack bar is open for campers to purchase cool refreshing snacks on the hot summer days from items like icecream, freeze pops, drinks and small snacks.
